Nice write up from Tech Crunch today about the launch of The Viewpoints Technology Platform with MySears.com. Like the rest of the technology and startup world I have been a regular reader of Tech Crunch for the last 3+ years. Michael and his staff of bloggers do a nice job of covering the start up scene and have gained incredible access and credibility in their coverage. The posts are always an interseting blend of reporting and commentary that help to make them interesting. I will admit I was always a bit reluctant to promote Viewpoints to them because they can be pretty jaded at times about "yet another XYZ". That said, I thought they did a nice job of covering this important launch. So, for now I can breath a sigh of relief....

The Viewpoints Technology Platform Allows Sears and Kmart Shoppers to Create Social Profiles, Contribute Content and Engage Other Consumers, all to Make Smarter Purchase Decisions
Chicago May 7, 2009 – Viewpoints Network, a social technology and media company, announced today that Sears Holdings has chosen the Viewpoints Technology Platform to power its new online communities, MySears.com (www.mysears.com) and MyKmart.com (www.mykmart.com).
The introduction of the Viewpoints Technology Platform and its selection by Sears is evidence of the growing need among the nation’s leading brands to truly engage their customers in a meaningful dialogue and capitalize on the rise of the social web.
Today we are announcing some pretty big news. Over the last five months our technology team has been hard at work transforming the technology platform that we use to run Viewpoints.com into a licensable version that makes it easy for our clients and partners to set up their own private label sites. The Viewpoints Technology Platform is now available as a fully configurable, customizable and scalable platform that will enable brands to engage with their customers in whole new ways.
Our launch of MySears and MyKmart are two of first sites on this new platform.
As they say in the technology world, The VIewpoints Technology Platform is a dual-core platform. One of those cores is the social engagement engine that drives the platform and is designed to motivate consumers to create a profile, contribute content and share it with their friends. All of the classic social engagement features that you would expect to see are there such as reviews, discussion boards, blogs, idea submission andvoting all compliment by friending, commenting, private messaging, reputation, photos, RSS feeds, connections with social networks, surveys, and voting. The other core of the platform deals with features that you rarely if ever see in other social platforms. Those are features that have to do with taxonomies, product catalogs, faceted search and navigation, pricing, and the tools to organize hundreds of thousands of reviews, discussion posts, and profiles to help consumers make smarter decisions.
Now that the Viewpoints Technology Platform is officially available we are excited to begin earnest discussions with brands who are looking to take their engagement with their customers to a whole new level.
